Howden has announced the launch of Howden Re Taiwan, appointing Jimmy Tsai to lead the office as Managing Director.
Tsai, who will join Howden in June this year, has over 15 years of experience in the Taiwanese and Asian reinsurance market.
He began his career as a Special Assistant to the President of Taian Insurance before taking on senior roles at Willis Re and later Gallagher Re, where he served as Executive Director.
Howden Re Taiwan will reportedly focus on Treaty Reinsurance and provide Taiwanese clients with on-the-ground access to local expertise.
According to the firm, the new office is backed by extensive resources from across the wider group as well as dedicated regional reinsurance and analytics capabilities, including Emily Lo, who was appointed Head of Analytics, Howden Re Asia, last month.
Andy Souter, Managing Director and Head of Asia-Pacific, commented, “Expanding in Asia-Pacific is a strategic priority for Howden Re’s international development, as we continue to build a market-leading reinsurance platform and team.
“I am delighted to welcome Jimmy to the business and look forward to him joining in June. The strength and depth of the team we have and the calibre of the talent we continue to attract is testament to Howden’s differentiated and innovative approach to working together to serve our clients.”
